We loved the idea of having a spring wedding since the spring season is a symbol of phenomenal renewal. And so it seemed to be the perfect time to step into the next chapter of our lives together as husband and wife. Also, as a flower designer I knew that March would be the perfect month for my favorite blooms such as ranunculus, french tulips, and sweet pea!
Jedediah Hawkins Inn turned out to be the ideal venue for our ceremony and reception. It was in a secluded location on the North Fork, was uniquley charming, and catered intimate weddings. The ornate architecture and luxe interioirs coincided perfectly with the refined, rustic style we wanted to create.
Michael’s style is more on the rustic-organic side while I love a classic, glam look. We wanted to incorporate both of our own styles while also balancing the North Fork wine country setting. Classic, glam details included scalloped edge fenton compotes and cut crystal glass vases for the centerpieces. Grey russian linens, hemstiched runners, and wooden furniture added a natural, homey feel.
Ipanema Press custom designed the letter-pressed invitation suite which was full of details – hand-made paper with deckled edges, platinum and tea rose soy ink, and a soft magnolia branch illustration.
Some of my family members also contributed personalized details. My father made our one-of-a-kind wine crate card box, while my Aunt crocheted the bridesmaids knit cowls.
The flowers were designed to look gardenesque yet tailored. This look was achieved by using mixed and mono-bloom compositions. The color palette was simple. We loved the freshness of white and green with just a touch of blush to bring in a hint of romance. Grey was also incorporated through the linens, mens tuxes and bridesmaid dresses.
Even though it was a chilly, rainy day, and the ceremony had to be held inside the barn, it turned out to be the most beautiful day of our lives. Stacey Kaufman did a fabulous job capturing all of the special moments and details of the day and we couldn’t be happier with the way everything turned out.
Special thanks to Regina of Cloud Nove Events for all your help in letting me “be the bride”.
